One more month, princesses, then it’s our turn to take to the stage and earn those tiaras and glass slippers! WHEEEEE!
I knocked out another six miles today. I told myself that my January goal would be for 100 miles. However, I’m only at 39 miles for the whole month. After doing the math, I would have to crank out no less than six miles every day for the next 10 days to reach this goal. With school starting, I’m hoping to manage my running along with all my schoolwork and ensemble rehearsals. With every workout I can feel my core getting tighter, legs getting powerful, shoulders and back getting muscular. It’s a process to maintain a fitness level, and it’s worth the arduous, sweaty hours in the gym sprinting on a treadmill or lifting those weights just to see the end result. I’m far from my goal, but every day is one step closer to setting off the metal detectors in the airport due to my abs of steel.
It’s all about making time to do the things you love. If you consistently overload yourself with work or academics and do nothing but eat, sleep, and pee it…you’re going to burn out. When I studied music, I had to make time to practice, since I wasn’t going to get any better or stronger by winging it (even though I was naturally talented and could sight-read most anything put in front of me). I know that running 19.3 in two days wasn’t going to come naturally, since running is still uncharted territory for the most part. I’ve trained little by little over the course of several months, and now that there is a month left until the big event(s), it’s time to go into beast mode and knock the rest of these training runs out.
I might try to start working out in the mornings; (hopefully) our gym on campus will be mostly empty. I can walk about knowing that I managed to knock out X-amount of miles before most of the masses have even woken up. THAT is a fabulous feeling to have.
How is your training going so far? Anyone getting close to taper time?
